The Draw Box

  1. Drums of slivers, from the Gillbox, are placed behind the Drawbox.
  2. Slivers are fed into the draw box and pulled through the machine by rollers, which draft the yarn.
  3. The Flying arms give twist; twist gives strength.

The end product of the draw box is a slubbing.
A slubbing is longer and thinner than a sliver.

The slubbing goes on to the next machine, Granny.

The Draw Box

glossary
Drafting; the fibres are pulled apart so the yarn becomes longer.
"Drawing" would be another word to describe the same process.
